United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.” Christ United Methodist Women invites all women to join us as we seek to live out this mission statement.
UMW members meet in small groups once a month (with the exception of July) plus at least two large group meetings held each year: a Christmas Brunch/Ornament Exchange in December and a luncheon at a tea room or restaurant in May or June.
A daytime circle meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10:30am at the church annex or a member’s home. Another circle meets at 9:00am on the 3rd Saturday of the month at various restaurants.
Various fundraisers and projects include:
- The Fall Festival bake sale in October, benefiting MUST Ministries of Cherokee County
- A Valentine lunch in February, benefiting Murphy-Harpst Children’s Home in Cedartown, GA
- Participating in Miss Mary’s Crankin’ in August to benefit Drake House, which aids homeless women and their children
- Making Care Kits for Covenant House to give to homeless teens and young adults vulnerable to human trafficking
